Coach Humphrey's Take - September 7, 2007 (from www.ashleyathletics.com)

Lady Eagles Overshadowed by West Brunswick

In the varsity match, Kelsey Hopper lined up at the net and looked at her opponent standing in front of her----she was 6'4" and just like Kelsey, only a sophomore!! Kelsey turned to the bench and mouthed--OH MY GOD! But Kelsey played like a true champion, finishing the match with 12 kills and 5 blocks. You have to feel great when you stuff a girl that is that tall!

And Jessica McGill turned to the bench and flexed her muscles after she dug 2 of her hits. We played well and hard for games 1 & 2: 20-25 & 21-25!

Sarah Harris left us at 18-20 in the 2nd game with her on-going ankle injury. Whitney Adams (a freshman) stepped in to fill the gap and did a great job for us. In game 3, we were worn down by their aggressive play and an official that I hate to say was still mad at me for the JV match. We finished game three, 13- 25. West Brunswick is a very good team and I think the Lady Eagles did a good job against them last night.

We are 3-3 overall and 2-1 in our conference. We take on Hoggard next Tuesday at their place. We sure could use your support and it's only a short drive! Hope to see you and hear you in the stands.

The team would like to thank Coach Adams for driving us this week and mending our injuries. We are fortunate to have people like him and Coach Gale to volunteer to help us -- especially me out. It's next to impossible to get everything done when you're a one person staff. Thanks Coach Adams.

Coach Humphrey's Take - September 5, 2007 (from www.ashleyathletics.com)

Eagles Fall to Dixon

The Varsity committed too many errors which left the door open for Dixon. Problem was, they (Dixon) committed less errors than us. It wasn't our best match, but we fought hard.
